In 1978, it was inherited as the first Nave de Esperanza, and the 159-meter vessel was converted into a mobile hospital, housing three state-of-the-art operating rooms, a 40-bed inpatient ward, a dental clinic, a laboratory, a X-ray equipment, three cargo holds and accommodation for 420 crew members.
