Neglected trauma

Broken bones are a common occurance in developing nations due to motor vehicle accidents, work related accidents, having to navigate rough terrain at night or even just from children playing normal childrens games or clibing trees.

The problem comes when the broken bone is not set back in place because the person cannot afford medical treatment or it is just not available where they live. Deformed limbs can reduce mobility and a patients capacity to work and scratch out a basic living. Children are sometimes unable to attend school because of their injuries.

Mercy Ships’ surgeons perform interventions to correct these problems and restore mobility enabling the patient in many cases to return to a completely normal life.
