To celebrate Valentine’s Day we’ve put together a few photos that show love in action aboard the hospital ship Africa Mercy…
In her spare time Lindsay, a volunteer nurse that works in the recovery room, is helping Maeva recover from her surgery by blowing bubbles together on the ships deck.
Brittany is a ward supervisor on board and here we find her playing on deck with Bernadette an orthopaedic patient recovering from surgery to straighten her bowed legs. At the same time she helps her practice walking on those newly straightened legs.
Ria, our medical screening supervisor from the Netherlands, uses every chance she gets to show our patients that we do care. Here we see her with Paul, one of the littlest cleft lip and palette patients in Cameroon.
Tanja from Germany spent several months volunteering as a housekeeper. A clean shinny hospital ship is important both for the enjoyment of our crew and for the health of our patients. Tanja was not only hard working but also had a nice smile for anyone who passed by.
