Walking into the offices of Pullmantur Cruises in Madrid last Friday the 15th of April, you might have been forgiven for thinking you had stepped onto the streets of Seville during the annual April fair! But it was all for a good cause as the Pullmantur office staff celebrated their first solidarity fair, selling tapas to support the charity Mercy Ships. There were no horse drawn carriages but there were a few typical Andalusian dresses and some very good authentic tapas, which may not have won any Michelin stars, but tasted really good as the one Euro for each was collected to raise money for Mercy Ships. Twenty-five staff members decorated the room which housed the roughly 200 profesional staff from the Pullmantur head offices, who participated in the event and enthusiastically devoured the 350 or so tapas prepared by staff and volunteers.
From traditional tapas such as salmorejo or gazpacho to more sophisticated delicacies, and without forgetting the all important accompanying drinks such as the traditional wine “fino” the staff were then able to finish off with sweet tasting cakes and pastries. There was an abundance of guitars, sombreros, traditional adorned hair do’s, and traditional music, as well as a lot of heart and soul put into this gastronomic cultural event that made it quite a success.
Two passions: The sea and solidarity:
This event was part of the program “Moved by you” designed to promote the culture and values of the Pullmantur brand as it begins a new program in cooperation with Mercy Ships involving it’s two great passions: the sea and solidarity. Now it’s time to count and re-count the Euros donated to make sure every last cent ends up being used to make the world a slightly better place for people in need through the work of Mercy Ships. And now the work also beings for the “Pullfunners” and the members of the Solidarity Club as the start to design the next innovative event to keep the office alive with that charitable spirit!
