Nurses, nurses, nurses…

Each year around 750 volunteer nurses from around the world work on the hospital ship Africa Mercy for anything from one month to many years.

Last week was world nurses day and how could we not celebrate in some way the wonderful work of our dedicated nurses. So we decided to ask them how they would sum up the work of a nurse:

Mirjam Plomp, the Netherlands

Being a nurse means holding true to the fact that healthcare is a right for everyone”

Natalie Bullock, USA

Being a nurse means being present for first cries, last breaths and everything in between”.

Deb Louden, Australia

Being a nurse means a caring hand and an encouraging smile”

Stephanie Duncan, USA

Being a nurse means getting to step into people’s lives and make a difference every day”
