Acquired in 1983, the 52 m 998 GRT Island Mercy, started her service initially as the "Good Samaritan", primarily focusing on Central America and the Carribean. In 1994 she was moved to the Pacific where she served in Asia and the South Pacific. On board they mainly performed eye-surgeries and dental care, having also clinics in rural areas. She carried a
crew of 60 volunteers.
