The list of things required to support all operations is quite extensive, specific and fluctuates based on the location of the ships and planned operations and outreaches. However, the following summary is intended to give you a very general idea of how an individual can help to support the mission of the ships outside of providing monetary doantions. It does not need to be a large donation of the items below to be of help. New items are particularly useful and appreciated.

School packs (for primary-age children) typically contain coloring pens, pencils, an eraser, a short ruler and an exercise book. Other goods required include chalk, pencils and pens, balloons, glitter, stickers, stencils, greetings cards, alphabet and number charts.

Wash Bags - Each patient on the ward receives a wash bag, containing soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, body lotion, and a towel with wash cloth.

Office supplies - Stationery for giving away to schools and for use onboard: erasers, dry-erase markers, permanent markers, A4 paper (lined, squared, coloured), A4 paper holders, plastic document holders, highlighters, calculators, sticky-notes, scissors, coloured card, exercise books, 4-ring binders, clipboards, file folders, coloured stickers, pencil sharpeners, sticky tape and dispensers. Other office equipment is also required – please contact us for details.

Household goods – Large padlocks (internal and external), plastic buckets, mop heads, brushes, plastic kitchen goods (e.g. funnels, measuring cups, storage containers, utensils), batteries (all sizes), penlights, flashlights. Bed-linen and towels Good quality towels, blankets and bed-linen are always needed. If you have sheets etc that are in poor condition, our ship’s engineers can use them for cleaning the engine-room.

Tools – We get a lot of hand tools for our construction projects from partner charities. The tools you could help us with include paintbrushes, cordless drills, sandpaper, mason’s floats, buckets, and automotive tools for our Landrovers. Get in touch if you have something specific in mind you’d like to give us.

Healthcare – We require healthcare equipment in every price band from 50 euros to 150 euros. If you would like to sponsor a piece of equipment, please call to discuss. Most consumable goods and pharmaceuticals are obtained from the industry as donations and must have at least 12 months shelf life left before they expire. Please do not send us un-used medicines but return them to your pharmacist.

Food needs - are usually met by wholesale food suppliers. It is uneconomical for us to receive small donations of food from individuals. If you have contacts in the food industry for us to contact for larger donations, we would love to hear from you.

Marine equipment, medical equipment, machinery, vehicles – If you are interested in donating or sponsoring such equipment, including shipping containers, network infrastructure, Landrovers and operating tables, please get in touch.

Items we cannot accept – Legislation and limited cargo space mean we have to refuse some things. In particular we would respectfully ask that you do not send us unused medicines, clothes, soft toys, walking frames, crutches or wheelchairs. If in doubt, please ask us, rather than sending something which we cannot store, or have to pay to throw away.

Packaging and Transport – Please notify us if you have any of the materials above to donate. We will work with you on the best way to get them to us for forwarding to one of the ships.
